And then they wonder how the Indian variant got here.
Tony.
So fearful Toby of what I was thinking at the very start ie; how long will it be before they consider collateral damage, it’s been used in every war situation so far and this is no different in my view. Fingers crossed they haven’t considered it yet.Aye Tony, this was always going to happen if the EU left its internal borders open. They will say its not their problem and put the onus on the travellers to do the right thing ( yeah right ), or for our Gove to impose the restrictions on return. The problem is tracking where they have actually been.
We were discussing this loophole at the end of April / beginning of May - and it could potentially happen elsewhere too.
Regards the Indian Variant, again it could well have been a similar scenario - however it seems the Gove were reluctant to stop travel from India initially for fear of hindering a trade agreement.
The fact that countries would possibly use these tactics during these times of a health crisis speaks volumes.
Info is that the vaccines are working to protect against the Indian variant. Tbh, UK should have stopped flights in and out of India.
