a thought just accured to me, i suppose an unscrupulous person could use the say hello thread to figure where other zeds are located, though this would be abit hit and miss:)

Not if 'Home' was (accurately) programmed into the SatNav.;)

the worry was advertising the fact there was a satnav in the glove box, so yes in order to take advantage of this information you would need to know where shellys car was.

Find the satnav and you've found Shelley's car! Simples.
Seriously, I have a place in the road a short distance from home programmed as Home - a choice of about 20 to try then. Also, keep house keys and car keys separate. If someone gets your car keys they don't get access to you house by default.

good point, but then how would they know what house they were for, unless they have already nicked your sat nav, flippin ek this is getting complicated, i find one of those ocean films easier to follow=))
my mrs has her house key on the same keyring, i will point this out to her.

In the program "the Real Hustle" a professional conman had a guy hand over his keys to his high spec Audi to park. He had it away, the Sat nav was in the glove box with his home address plumbed in and also the house keys on the ring. Slam dunk, job done. Fortunately for this chap it was a TV programme so nothing lost. Dead easy if you don't take care.

It's the kind of thing you never think about but it's what those with evil intent might just use. Doesn't matter if your car has built in satnav or you leave your satnav in the car you're equally at risk of stolen car keys. Satnav on your phone needs someone to get past your password before it can be used (although much can be scraped off via USB to a computer and accessed that way). As always with security, the harder you make it for those thieving oiks out there the more secure you are. They're more likely to go elsewhere.
Keeping a hungry German Shepard dog at home improves your chances enormously.
