What have you seen lately ???

I thought i would show you this spot, up in Inverness a couple of years ago.

I stopped the van, got out, as i turned round i seen this coming down the road, i fumbled in my pocket to get my phone out, open it get the camera app and take the photo, it all happened in seconds.

I think a professional photographer would have taken hours to get that shot.

Nice Sunbeam Alpine. I was offered one way back in 1977 by my driving instructor. He only wanted £250 for it but it was going to cost another £150 to insure it. I was in the last year of my apprenticeship at the steelworks and money was a bit tight. It would have looked great outside our house

The very first convertible I ever rode in was an Alpine, and it was white. Well, it had been white at some time but as it belonged to Ronnie Watson, it was more rust and crap coloured however it made a big impression on a 17 year old.

Looks like a Carawagon camper conversion on that SIIa 109" Landie.
Difficult to tell from a distance but it looks in good condition :)

Loving the Commer, I seen one last month, the first i had seen in years

I lost the knuckles on my hand one year around this time. It was when I started working for myself out of my van, and had serviced this PB at the owner's house. Running it up with new a/freeze, I grabbed to top hose to see if the stat had opened only for the cooling fan to gnaw at my knuckles. Didn't hurt at first as my hands were so cold, but, bloody hell it made up for it later. Hated PB's ever since.;)=))

Tony.

ps. Boy do I miss working on "simple" vehicles like them.:(

In the interest of keeping this thread going here's another one from my recent trip.

Italy of course.

My thoughts looking at these was, if I kicked the end one over I wonder if the whole lot would go?

But seriously for a moment, how do you get one out?

When i was an apprentice we had a 240 GLE Turbo as the fleet spare car, i remember taking it out one day, it was wet and i was going to BOC to collect some gas fittings, i took the wrong turn, so i pulled up as the side of the road to do a U turn.
When the road was clear i turned the car round a, in fact i was young and hit the accelerator a little hard and ended up doing a full circle and ended up facing the same way i started.

They looked good in BTCC trim Stevie.

We had a MK4 Escort in the tyrebay at work today but I didn't have an opportunity to sneak a picture.:( Looked a tidy car too.
