The Z3 is an iconic retro shape so any body colour should be sympathetic to the original design idea. Although the oranges and bright greens etc are striking and really effective on the right cars I would prefer something a bit more understated for a Z3. Go with a non standard colour for uniqueness but nothing too gaudy. I really like the dark metallic red on the American sedan which would get my vote from the ones posted but at the end of the day it's your motor and your choice. Whatever you go with it will be a beauty if it is up to the standard that you achieved with the blue one. Looking forwards to the progress thread.

What about the paint that changes colour as the light strikes the body like purple to blue

The United colours of Benneton. Would be different for sure.

I like this idea. The Velvet Blue Z3 does this but there must be versions with more ‘pop’ and flip effect, TVR probably did one.

I would go for a BMW colour. I've never seen an orange Z3 before. It would be quite special in Sakhir Orange or Sunset Orange.

Or one of the more obscure Z3 colours

Colour shifts are generally called that or chameleon. I thought about this for mine but then realised they are too flash. I’m going purple when mine is re-done. That velvet blue is very nice.

For a Zed I’d be tempted to go pearlescent white also. It’s such an unusual colour for a Zed. Yes they get dirty quick but a man of Sean’s calibre will keep it in check I’m sure :)
