What box sets are you watching

Just finished watching a Netflix box set on Charles 'Lucky' Luciano. The Making of the MOB, THE Godfather of all Godfathers! Fascinating, if a tad brutal, watch. Most of the way through the Al Capone one.

I've recently been doing some research into The Mob, in particular The Chicago Outfit led by Al Capone. Anyway, a fact that I came across would interest a fellow forumite @miller1098

One of Al Capones trusted associates was a guy they called the "Hump", and the interesting fact is that the "Hump's" mother and father emigrated to the USA in the early 1900's from a little village in mid Wales called Carno, which is where Miller lives, and even more interestingly is that the "Hump" was so called because his surname was Humphreys which is also Millers surname.

Has Hugh got connections to the Mob ? Spooky or what ?

Now that is spooky! Road trip with @FRANKIE .............

Yeah and Frankie worked in a casino
This is interesting. There was a time when dealers that I knew went to work for casinos that hired them up here in Atlantic City to work in new casinos that were opening up in the islands. I was really interested in going down there but had just bought a house and couldn't make the move. About a year or so afterwards, I met up with a few of them when they returned here on their vacations. I asked them if they were happy they had made the move. Almost all of them were single guys who had nothing to tie them down. They said they really enjoyed the life down there as the climate was nice and it was always a vacation atmosphere. I asked some of them, who had been close friends of mine, what they liked about it the best and this is what they told me. There were many single girls who had taken cruises down there. Being away from home where no one knew them, they were free to do what they wanted. They told me that it was not unusual for girls to throw their room keys down on the table where they had been playing asking their dealer to come up and visit them for a drink or 'something'. I could see where a guy could get the nickname 'the hump' in a short period of time.......................Frankie

Deadwood got a few mentions in this thread. What a great series it was, if you don't mind a bit of swearing.;)(well, quite a lot actually).
Anyway soon after this ended in 2006 they said they were going to make a Film version. 12 years later and it's finally going to happen along with 12 of the original cast too. May be out next year, should be good. When we were chatting one night @FRANKIE told me he had visited the saloon in Deadwood where Wild Bill Hickock was shot in the back, it still exists today wedged between two high rise buildings.

It just sits between other stores, not a high rise. And it's really not the original location. I think something happened that there was a fire or it just closed and someone opened another saloon and called it the No. 10. I think it's across the street from the original location. It's been 42 years since I was there. Here's a photo of the new location:

The town was just an old mining town because it was near the Lead gold mine which produced alot of gold, perhaps more that any place in the world until South Africa started producing gold.

Original location

Used to be a player piano along this wall. I sat down there and played some ragtime one night. I told this story before here. On this night, I was playing and some tourists from Denmark or Sweden came into the place and their eyes popped out because it looks like you stepped back into history................

They got this chair in a case over the doorway that has a hole in the back of it that was supposed to be the chair Bill Hickock was sitting in when he got shot, but an old bartender told me that many years ago, a bunch of guys that were drinking there just took a chain out into the street and shot a hole in it and brought it back inside....

So anyway, these tourists started asking me questions about how nice it was playing paino in an old historic saloon but I had to tell them that I was just a casino dealer from New Jersey visiting some friends in Wyoming and South Dakota. I guess it was a let down for thrm..

Deadwood is noted for its bike week during the summer. Perhaps the biggest bike gathering in the country

A good picture of the town........

Currently watching the hunting of hill house. I’m not usually into horrors as they usually don’t live up to there name. Only 5 episodes in slow going but good story so far plus a shocker that I sought of expected but made did make me jump all the same. The wife nearly wet herself laughing.

Tried "call Saul" and couldn't get on with it, did it get better, I only watched a couple of episodes
I like it, as you said slow to start but shows you how he gets to be Saul Goodman ;)

I'm loving Luther at the minute, can't believe I didn't watch them years ago.
