Well I spent all day on Saturday polishing and waxing the car it looked great... Sunday morning came and it was a glorious day so thought why not...
Did not know where I was going so roof down and set off, I have never been to honister pass so today was the day seen as its only 1.5 hrs away from me.
The drive over was really pleasant thermometer was reading 21 and the wind was warm..... So this is it , only 1 mile off the pass I hit an unavoidable pot hole on the drivers side :( then an almighty bang then a continuous banging as if the exhaust was bouncing, so stopped and had a look thought I snapped something..... Rang a local garage in Keswick to see if he was open , he was there but garage was shut... But he said come over and we will have a look.... Great so headed over..
Got it on the ramp and all became clear , the passenger rear shock top mount bush pushed through:(
So used his tools to stop down noticed he also had a press , so pressed the bush back in rebuilt the car and thought well home it is , still never got to the pass :(
Got home and ordered the upgrade polyflex ones...
Well I learned something anyway never to put normal bushes in

Eventful day then !! Must have been one hell of a pot hole or a bush thats abit iffy as i have the same suspension set up as you and stanadard mounts and no such issues.
Typical a nice day an a failure but at least you got the help you needed

I bought new top mont bushes as the originals were goosed They were £30 from euro car parts , but this is the start of changing all bushes to poly flex ;)

I would be taking those back to ECP a kicking up a right stink till I got my money back.

Tony.

I would have but to get the bush back in I had to trim a little off the edge so I could press it back into place.... The rubber was just squashing , I think when they make them the rubber goes in first then they seal the centre bush /spacer in place . But a lesson learned

Sorry for your troubles..............at least you maintained control of the car and no injuries. Frankie.

I was very surprised as the pot hole was on driver side but the passenger side top mount gave way........ The looks I was getting off people when the noise was there was was as if to say dot out know your car is making a noise as I am driving at 20 mph :(

If this had happened to me and my wife would have been sitting on the passenger side, I wouldn't have wasted a moment after it happened and said to her: "Honey, I think you have to lose some weight".

That's not good mate, hope all goes well and you're back up and running soon. Very nice café at the top of Honister with an old slate mine museum if you want to stop for a brew and look round. A couple of nice pubs at the Buttermere end with two nice cake/ice cream shops.

Sorry to hear you had a rough day. It's rubbish when a nice day out goes t*** up! Hope you get sorted soon.

I bet your missing the top washer, @GazHyde had this issue

Dodged one there by the sounds of it. I think the garage man deserves a round of applause for getting you out of that hole - literally!

No unfortunately not the washer is there, when I strip something down I am a bit anal as to how it came off so that's how it goes back....... But having said that why have I got a bucket load of spare parts??? Haha

Yes he was great just let me get on with it... Said use that ramp , use the tools in that box and the press is over there........ Are you ok to do it.... The answer was yes and the job was done
