I’ve been watching the series Andy. It makes for really interesting viewing. Looking forward to Sunday’s episode.

It should give a good overview of where the 2.1 Billion £'s a year goes that funds Sellafield Limited.

I’ve found the contrast between the lakes and Barrow-in-Furnace markedly apart.

And the number of second homes driving people out of the Lakes. The plight of farmers faced with rewilding the mountains used for grazing livestock.

It really is worth watching.

The drug capital of Cumbria 😞
No aspirations. That was very much highlighted. The poverty was palpable and then Simon was behind a cruise of super cars of the wealthy second plus home owners. The contrast was painful.

Yup. A very deprived County, sort of. Barrow and Sellafield bring much of the employment outside of the tourism in the Lakes, the West Coast is VERY poor.

I have lifted in Barrow all my life and still do Barrow gets a lot of bad press especially the town center and Barrow island flats , for years my family delivered Milk on Barrow island and the people were the salt of the earth , the problems we have know are ruthless landlords who put the dregs of the earth in flats and get paid a lot of money for doing that only last year you could by a flat for £19 k but because of the people who live there none local residents will not touch them
Ok Barrow does have its problems but the majority of these are from people coming into the town and a weak police force

Just the same in Gainsborough, my local town. Around here this started in the late 60s and early 70s with influxes of people from London.

Tony.

Watch it: it’s fascinating.
