Write Up Welsh Cruise 10th July

It was another brilliant run. The weather didn't change anything for me, still an amazing drive even in monsoon conditions :P

The kitchen sponge didn't change a thing with the GoPro so I'll have to stick some music over the videos I make later.

@Twin Turbo better get some stickier tyres for next year :P

Firstly, I wish to add my thanks to Jim, @TaffZee for organising yet another great day out. It did seem funny sticking to a pre-planned route though=)). Superb roads, company and food. Shame the weather was not a bit better but it could have been an awful lot worse so did allow for some fun and spirited driving. @Mrs Mint did not have her eyes closed, I'm sure she enjoyed it. She was able to look at the scenery where I was concentrating on the road;)

We had a much more gentle cruise home from the last coffee stop with Steve, @Bozzy following behind. About 8 miles from home and the red battery light came on the dash and the steering went very, very heavy. I thought aux belt has broken, better check it out. So pulled over into a handy bus stop and lifted the bonnet. Clouds of steam rose from the front of the engine  and I knew immediately the water pump had let go. It was a good job I stopped as the Zed emptied all her coolant onto the floor when I moved the fan... I wouldn't have got home without big damage to the engine. So after a minor panic about the breakdown number, got picked up on a flat bed recovery truck and was delivered home just about 2 hours after breaking down. Pretty good in my opinion, esp as it was a Sunday evening. After a quick phone call to my indie this morning she is booked in and will be mended and back on the road soon. Just waiting for the recovery truck to come and take her to the garage.
I think I have been very lucky as on closer inspection this morning I seen to have got away with no damage to the rad/fan/coupling and fan shroud. I'll see what the garage say later. Couple of pics but it's a bit hard to show a broken water pump:

Well I only just fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 4's after been on run flats for the last 2 years - so I am still learning on there capabilities - As I am a cautious driver - I post the video of you twerking at the traffic lights.

no way, didn't realise you had a dash cam D

Thanks for a great day out, nice to meet everyone, we really enjoyed it and even managed to keep up with the pace. Weather didn't spoil it for me, it could have been a lot worse according to what the forecast was saying. The zed did pick up a funny noise early into the cruise, sounds like a supercharger whine when you accelerate but didn't cause any problems although will have to get it sorted whatever it is. Got home and parked the car up, roof down with the intention to put it in the garage later on only to get a call of my brother at 10.30 saying you better put your roof up its hammering down  not the first time and probably not the last. Only really took one pic

Looks like a day well spent ! Pleased the car was no more serious @Mint and hopefully a full recovery after the pumps changed,as you say looks like a possibly impeller fail rather than the bearing but either way pleased you caught it without any further damage...

Could of been a lot worse. I am surprised you have not changed it already tho Dave
