Had a lovely day of top down driving around the Wirral yesterday in great sunshine.
Decided to call in at a small pub on way back which is approached by a narrow lane. Car park was full with no turning space, so started to reverse back down lane - car coming other way so reversed into a passing point to let it through. Crunch !!! huge boulder hidden in the longish grass - rear bumper twisted from side and cracked in middle. Awaiting insurance company call back.

That's gutting. I thought this was going to be about the weather and getting caught in a downpour, which on reflection would have been annoying but preferable.

I did that once. Down a series of boulders and destroyed the sill cover on my nearly new 3 Series.

And I saw someone do it just the other day, next car in front of me in identical circumstances. Then he met another car, the other car wouldn't reverse, he obviously wasn't going to risk making another mistake and got out and had a row with the other driver until he reversed. Made it a nice change it wasn't me in the sh*t doing this sort of thing.

Thanks Tony - the irony was we parked up away from other cars and walked around West Kirby Marina. As we walked back towards the car we both commented admiringly how good the Zed was looking for a 23 year old - well she still does from the front

If it's just a rear bumper as you say I'd save on increased insurance premiums and buy another bumper, you can get them for peanuts and have it painted.

Did consider that Adrian but didn't want all the hassle of obtaining a replacement and then finding a reliable body shop to spray bumper. NCB is protected but premium will no doubt be `adjusted' next time which is 8 months off.
