No pictures I’m afraid. But I did leave a lot of oil on the autobahn the other day.:hungry:
I think my big end disintegrated. Was pushing it a bit though:rolleyes: oops. Just went pop.
Now waiting for a new engine at Einstein’s garage near Köln.
Will keep you posted......

Get some pictures of the motor after it comes out Paul. If there's anything external to see.

Tony.

Pushing it on the autobahn?
Do tell, I'm sure we're all interested how quick the cars go, we don't get to try in the UK

When you say pushing it a bit. I take it you were doing over 100mph, is that so. Was there any warning, oil light on, high temperature?

No nothing. No warning lights. The oil light came on as I spread my newly serviced oil on the autobahn though.:D

I get/got 220kms/hrs max out of mine. On a bit of a down hill run.But it cruises nicely at about 100/105 mph.

My engine gave way in Belgium last year when we were on the Euro trip to the Limborit in Holland. My head gasket went and lost loads of oil and all my water.

My car was recovered and returned to my home in Cornwall. I repaired it myself, in fact only recently completed the repair and just got it through an MOT first time with only one advisory.

I had similar symptoms, change in engine noise, it sounded like it was whistling, then lost all power.

Any chance it was losing oil before the event: loose filter, loose sump plug? Just serviced you said...
Bad luck, by the way. :(

You think you may have a big end failure?, Did a conrod break and pierce the engine block? Did something pierce the sump?
Can you see where the oil has come out of the engine?

Well ade it to Zed fest last weekend.
New recon motor fitted in Germany at Einsteins in Troisdorf.
Drove it a bit first before the 450mile drive home for my holidays.
In the picture you can see the hole in the side of the engine, there were further holes in the sump.
One of the faults they found was the flow of oil to the oil filter was blocked.
They put this down to poor oil and servicing by past owners. I have been using premium oils and servicing every 6months, plus I have been putting serious autobahn miles on the car this past winter. This probably moved the gunk.
Anyway car still alive, but even more clear coat peeling off...:D
