This looks like a few snails have been meeting on the bonnet but in fact it’s water coming from the passenger side washer spout. Somehow it’s leaking when the car is being driven. Didn’t use the washer at all yesterday but for some reason it’s dribbling out. Before I started removing everything, anyone seen this before or have any ideas.
I thought it may be the heat from the engine causing the washer bottle to pressurise somehow, but then wouldn’t it weep out from both spouts ?

Been thinking about this and it must be leaking when the car is stationary. if it was while being driven, the water would be pushed towards the windscreen not to the side of the car.

Not necessarily, a leaking nozzle ;) at standstill would surely leave a simple trail following gravity. That looks like a small leak, being directed by air flow on the move.

If you take the bonnet insulation off you'll see the non-return valve(s). I've only ever seen 1 fitted but some people say there should be 1 on each nozzle.

They are about £5-6 new from BMW and easy to fit.

I tried a pair of Chinese nozzles out recently. They actually do a job but are a little loose in the hole.

Washer nozzle looks ok.....but this valve underneath the bonnet seams to be leaking. I am assuming that is not meant to happen.
if you stick your finger over one end and blow the blue end then air and water comes out the hole .

Thanks for the suggestion @Ianmc , but I would prefer to get the correct BMW part if possible.

I’ll check the other one tonight just to make sure it’s ok, and order replacements from BMW tomorrow.

Thanks to all for replies.

Update....only the one required :) The other one is ok

Just had to replace the passenger side on on ours. Had a bit of trouble getting the pipe to seal over thee new valve, I guess the pipe had gone hard over the years.
I cured it by putting some heat shrink over the valve and then pushing the pipe on which then made a good seal.

Just had an email. Part in stock, put aside for me, £5.28 is VAT. :)

Now a nice top down drive in the sun to Rustington to pick it up.
