I’m from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and have owned 2 z3s, starting in 2004. My first was a gorgeous 1997 4 cylinder roadster in the color “Opal”, with tan rag top and tan leather interior. I had to part with it when I discovered the frame was bent. I have had my current roadster, a 6 cylinder, 2001 2.5i, for about twelve years. It has just under 109,000 miles on it.

I recently had my mechanic go over it thoroughly, with new struts, hoses, etc. I have scrapped the OEM Alpine audio system, and am currently installing a music 3-way network: a pioneer deh-80 prs head unit, Hertz high and mid-range speakers, shallow kicker sub, and new four channel amp, and sub amp. It’s calculated to be just powerful enough to sound good, at 50 watts per channel RMS on the Hertz’s and 150 on the sub. Lots of fun!

If anyone else has undertaken such a project, I’d love to hear their thoughts.

Welcome from Dunstable. I will be interested in how easily the pioneer deh-80 fits in as I have thought about upgrading to one. I know that some units are longer than others and require something to be cut to allow them to fit. If it fits in easily I might treat myself to one :):)
