Whoa Whoa,

sounds like you ordered the race system. You need to make sure you get 786606 not 043506. The race one will be very load and not road legal. if you put the product code 786606 in the top it comes under the 316 compact but its the same part.

This is really getting depressing now the backbox finally arrived from supersprint but the garage fitting it said it will not fit . Supersprint says its the correct box so no refund Above is the full system from supersrint I only purchased the back box which you can see bends to the right.
And what I need is picture 1 which bends down then straight has anyone else come across this problem....somewhat stuck between a rock and a hard place at the mo.

I would get under the car and take a picture but it's pouring wit rain. I cut my pipe just where the y piece joins the resonator

I know it is no comfort after all the trouble you have gone through, but a long life with cats would have been cheaper and fitted perfectly.

I went through this when I first bought mine, an OEM or quikfit system was going to cost around 600 - 700 quid. Cat back system was 275 and with cats 400 quid. I went cat back st the time, and I will be getting another made soon for the T5 and a new back box with twin pipes for the Z3.

Wish I had seen this earlier to offer advice, as pattern parts are very rarely a good fit or indeed the correct part, as you have found.

If it was me I would eBay all the parts you now have, and put the money to a hand made one with a life time guarantee.

Supersprint's back box is made to fit their system. Why not buy the rest of their system and sell your own bits to recoup some cash

You used to be able to buy "flexi" exhaust connectors, which were basically a length of articulating tube. You could then cut back one part of your system and make it fit.

Not sure if these are still available ?

I have that Supersprint back box on my 98 2.8 and fits fine - mine does not have two cats though. Even then I cannot see how it would not fit yours as there is nowhere else to route the exhaust (I'm assuming the 2.0 is not totally different underneath than any other).

I'm not sure that diagram 1 is the correct one for the car as if the pipe ran down it would be very low under the car.

I've not been under a 2.0 so could be complete mistaken of course!

And just to add after 5yrs and 30k+ miles the Supersprint still sounds and looks great.

Yeah the supersprint does take a different route. Instead of going the same route there is a flat section in the pipe to clear the subframe.

Please offer it up before cutting anything. Measure twice cut once

I have just replaced mine cat back i still have the 2.8 back box it was cut as my system was a full one with no joints at all i asked to keep the box as its near perfect but i suppose i have little use for it really but as it was oem and my hoarder side took it!
If i remember, it still from the back kicks right and down just coming up the far side of the sub frame.
Although the exhausts are made aftermarket they still have to fit in the same place and on the same hangers so it should fit but may need to cut and flanged to suit the centre you brought?

Mine was also cut same place as in the diagram to remake it.
It does appear the oem system is one piece the aftermarket is two manifold down pipes through cats then cat back
