VIN and Spec From Reg?

Some will already know this but for those that don't and probably aimed at those considering a potential purchase.

I use this to get the VIN from the reg https://web.vinwiki.com/#/login

I tried that at our local BMW outlet, looking for parts, she said whats your rego ?, I reply 99 Zed 3. Oh no no that;s not how it works. whats your rego ?. Again I replied 99 Zed 3. Anyways after about 4 attempts of trying to answer the question , I gave up and said, would you like my VIN ?... Meanwhile the missus is near P@#$ing herself, trying to look serious about the tempting delights in the showroom...
