yeah....I had budgeted to do brakes, tyres and some other minor bits this year, but they are going to have wait until next year. (Although at the rate I'm going, new tyres will probably have to come sooner!)

Mr Vanos came today, and it's fixed:


He did an awesome job, quickly, methodically, and was very professional. I've since been out in the car and I can already feel that it's much more responsive, particularly in the mid range. It's a bit too wet to give it the full beans but I'm looking forward to it!

Glad you got it done and sounds sweet now. Just wait until you can really open it up then you will feel the real difference. It is a lot of money but you do feel after watching Steve do his thing it is money well spent as he is as you say very methodical and professional. At least you have peace of mind now that the vanos will not Ever be a problem again.

Other cars have cam belts that cost this much to change and more frequently so not too bad if you have to do it every 100k miles on performance engine. Still a lot of cash but as far as M cars go it's not bad really.
