Event VanityBMW 2019, Sunday 21st July. Beaulieu Motor Museum.

Glad to hear you survived that in one piece Nick. Must've been a very scary experience . Please keep us E85 owners aware of what went wrong mate. Can only assume that the bolts have come loose as the alloy housing is a substantial lump. I have seen steel lower arms snap but never an alloy one.

Tony.

Thanks all. Yeah it was pretty scary. Only after I was out and waiting I started to realise just how bad it could have been.

Massive thanks to Neil for waiting with me till recovery arrived, and to those who also stopped to see if all was ok.

Hopefully it’ll be an easy fix.

Your welcome mate, I’m pretty sure if you had stability control etc turned off it would of been a different story. Shame I didn’t have a dash cam and you could of seen as the front end pulled right I’m sure there was smoke off your rear right wheel where it was stopping the back end spinning out.

Crazy thing was there was no tc lights or anything that I remember.

I’ve ordered new bolts from BMW which should arrive today. Im replacing the tyre with a new one that’s on my other car I’m breaking. It’ll hopefully be back on the road this weekend.

Was it the bolts? Get some lock tight on them this time :D

Yeah when I checked the car once home both bolts were missing. The previous owner, who changed a lot must have either not torqued them correct or only put one in. I find it hard to believe that both bolts would fail.

Fixed it last week. All seems well. Just spent the weekend exploring Cornwall. 800 miles and it drove fine. I’ll be at Zedfest :coolsteer)
