I attended the ZFEST today in Spartanburg South Carolina (at the BMW factory where all of our cars were built). There were 347 cars registered for the attempt to break the worlds longest parade of one make. The previous record was 178 Isettas in Italy back in the 1970’s. We had more than enough cars (347) but we were disqualified for “numerous technical violations”. There were 3 rules: #1) 5-10 miles per hour max, #2) no more than 2 car length separation, and #3) no stopping. Apparently we were NOT able do get it done. I feel bad for the organizers: some of who worked on the attempt for two years. Hard to get good pictures, but here are a few: 2B5EACD2-09ED-4C73-B095-238B002E2401.webp99020053-CB6C-4C8C-9F22-B2EC5D21F6E7.webp

Nothing to add. Back home today. About 120 miles, but we opted for back roads over the faster interstates so took us about 3.5 hours. Absolutely not one hint of a problem from my 2001 2.5 liter automatic over the 280 mile round trip. It just hummed along and flew around corners !

A real shame the record wasn't broken for it would have stood for a long time I would've thought. Hope you enjoyed your run back home, it sounds like a lovely trip.

Tony.

Fantastic, I think you guys are amazing. To get 347 cars together must have been great fun for everyone involved. And at the Zed birthplace. How lucky for you all. Maybe this was a practice run ready for sucess next year...!!!
We are in England and we have a Yellow z3 called Omlette because the registration looks like Omlette. We love the car as it brings a smile everywhere we go. When the sun shines so does our yellow car. We are proud to have one car that is a German sports car made in America and lives in UK. The Zed community here is a big family and we are all praying Zedfest UK can happen for us here on 15th August.
Covid restrictions are all about to be relaxed July 19th......so fingers crossed.
Here's a photo from our last Zedfest.

I made the trip to Greenville too , beautiful city by the way . There were plenty of Zs everywhere , the only thing I wished could have been done , was a good old fashioned car show . The wife and I went to the host hotel to check out as many as we could ( we are new to the Z ) but its not like going to an actual show in a big field or park somewhere . I dont understand why the record wasnt broken , Ive heard many different opinions , it was a wasted opportunity in my book. Oh well , maybe next time !
