Is it because yours is automatic? I just checked a manual 3.0 sport which is compliant.
Confusing, checked a few random cars on Autotrader: 2.2 auto not compliant, 3.0sport manual compliant, 3.0 sport auto compliant, 3.0 auto Jap import not compliant, 3.0 manual compliant.

Just tried our cars on the Checker site , Both the X1 and Z3 2.2 are both OK.

Interestingly my sons Land Rover is OK , it's a Ser 1 1952 , no idea what its emissions are ,never had an MoT

I checked my 3.0 Auto (M54) a few months back and it showed not compliant...just checked and still not compliant - have you got the reg for the 3.0 auto that was compliant? Might take it up with TFL and see what they say

Just looked on autotrader and tested a few. I think the 3ltr becomes compliant from Y-reg 2001....i can't find an older one that is compliant - incl my X-reg 2001
I'm emailing eccoc@bmw.co.uk to check and see if that is correct

Was that not when they added CO2 and NOx onto the V5? I wonder if they are saying that if you can't prove your NOx is below a certain value, you are non-compliant, but with an absolute exemption for anything older than 40 years old.

Doesn’t this thread just prove how confusing ULEZ has become, a nice little earner for TfL.

Although there are vehicle checkers online, basically the rule is your vehicle must comply with Euro 4 and that applies to all cars manufactured from 2006, here are the Euro 4 emission standards;

Carbon monoxide – 1.0g/km
Total hydrocarbon emissions: 0.10g/km
Non-methane hydrocarbon emissions: 0.068g/km
Nitrogen oxides: 0.08g/km
Particulate matter: no limit

I’m none the wiser, but believe the 2006 date rules my Zed out, apart from no charge on Christmas Day!

Apparently there's lots of potentially compliant cars wrongly categorized on the TFL database. It's definitely worth getting the CoC from manufacturer, and checking the actual NOX values. Manual vs Auto should not change these with same engine ?

Auto cars will use more fuel than the same car in manual form.

You could driver your non compliant Z for a thousand years and make less pollution than comes from digging all the raw materials out of the ground, manufacturing all the parts, building a new compliant car and putting it on a bloody great ship for weeks to the U.K.

Don't even get me started on coal powered EVs.

I've sent my V5 into BMW eccoc@bmw.co.uk to see if they can help. I noticed that my V5 doesn't have much detail on the second page, wonder if that is part of the problem

I can't comment on the ULEZ stuff as i'm a yank, but damn, that's the sexiest color I've seen on a Z3. What a beaut!

Personally I think all cars over 20 years old should be exempt. I am a member at Kew Gardens and in the future I won't be able to drive there. I don't want to go by train so I won't bother. I think they will lose a lot of members who like me only join because you then get in for free.

Living out in the middle of knowhere has it's benefits, not enough cars to implement such a process to make money ............ as it stands. That and the fact that the Public Transport system is a tad sketchy.

I've just received a Certificate of Conformity from BMW - lots of details on it, but i think the key ones here for the ULEZ compliance all look to be below the maximum levels, so i'm hopeful this will be accepted by TfL and i'll become exempt. I've sent it into them today - 10 day turnaround.

Figures i've got (and ULEZ max) - on a 3ltr automatic 2000 model:
CO - 0.288g/km (max 1g/km)
THC - 0.058g/km (max 0.1g/km)
NOx - 0.006g/km (max 0.008)

TFL will want all four pages of the V5C. Not sure why given that p3 & p4 are only used when selling, etc. but that's what they asked me.

I have been reading this thread now i take it all the figures quoted are for London' low emissions zone .

Glasgow city centre goes live on 01 st June 23 with really strict limits which no zed 3 will be new enough.
For petrol you have to be Euro 4 or newer ( zed 3 is euro 2 and 3 )
Even early z4 won't be compliant euro4 is 1st jan 2005 on
And for diesel Euro 6 ( my 2015 skoda superb euro 5 )
Fines steep
Within a rolling 12 months period
1st offence £60 ( halved) if paid in 14 days only for first offence
2nd offence £120
3rd offence £240
4th offence £480 ( capped)
