Hi guys and girls, I have a 2000 z3 and do not wish to have to sell her as she is my baby!! Can I go to a BMW dealer and get a letter of exemption? Just asking as this would be my last chance to be able to keep her?
She is in Fantastic condition and kept very well since I’ve had her for 13years now!
I hope someone can please help me out here?
Thank you all x

I have a personal plate on my car and I’m sure the co emissions are lower than 0.50

There are ULEZ Web sites that you tap your reg into, they'll inform you if your Zed is exempt or not.

i know it not on topic but someone needs to vote these idiots out, i appreciate clean idea air etc , but it should only apply to when a person buys a car,if you already own it you should not be applied.

Just tried our cars on the Checker site , Both the X1 and Z3 2.2 are both OK.

Interestingly my sons Land Rover is OK , it's a Ser 1 1952 , no idea what its emissions are ,never had an MoT

I think if the car is 40 years or older, then the ULEZ rules don’t apply the same with road tax and MoT.

  1. First see if TFL has your car listed as compliant or not.
  2. Then contact BMW and request the Certificate of Conformity. They will probably ask for a scanned copy of the V5C.
  3. TFL is mainly looking for NOX figures, rather than CO. Assuming the CoC shows your car meets the requirements, there's a "register my car" section on the TFL website, and then you upload the docs.

It seems to me that TfL main objective seems to be screwing more money out of vehicle owners to keep paying all the staff on the trains.

Most TfL underground can easily be modified to operate without a driver. A perfect example being the Dockland Light Railway.

Somebody school me on this….
So they punish people who keep an old car probably because they can not afford a new one?
This world is effed up bigtime. The future looks scary.
The theory is to ensure that the City air is cleaner to breath, the reality is that the motorist is yet again hammered for money as it's an easy target. Sadly ULEZ is spreading too 😢

ULEZ is the reason I got a 2.2 rather than a 2.8 or a 2.0. I’ve seen people selling these that are used daily within the ULEZ which is now huge. It would be interesting to see whether an exception can be obtained. Only use the TfL ULEZ checker, because I have seen incorrect results on other ULEZ checking sites. The solution to the ULEZ and congestion charge penalty is auto pay. Apparent it’s free to sign up now. Annoyingly, I recently went into the central London and forgot to pay before midnight the same day and had to pay and additional £2.5, which seems a bit harsh. The funny thing is, it was still cheaper for two of us to drive in and park than taking the train.

The TFL web site is not consistant, it shows my old E46 325 with an M 54 engine as compliant but the 3.0 Z3 with the M54 as not. If I go into that zone I will just use my 1971 Fiat 500.

Thats about right - also talk of charging more for older cars to park too. This is being discussed and may not come into force

However once someone has an idea like this, and it earns more money....................

Is it because yours is automatic? I just checked a manual 3.0 sport which is compliant.
