Going on where the 3rd brake light is positioned (nearer to the cabin) it's Pre facelift car. On the Facelift car it was nearer to the rear of the boot lid. Cant see enough of the rear wheel arches to say for sure it's a wide body.

Pre-facelift but has the coolant and washer bottle at the bulkhead as apposed to front left as you look under the bonnet.

My Z3 was a 2000 model and has bits of both. It's a Mongrel.;)=))

It's definitely a prefacelift bodied car but with the facelift twin vanos engine. The best of both worlds in many peoples eyes.

It's also got facelift headlights. Might have been fitted after it left the factory, but being a Feb 99 build I'm suprised it's not a facelift. Don't see many facelifts in Atlanta Blue either looks like it has a bit of everything :)

Ah yes very similar look apart from interior. I see @Antm72 still has the UFO in situ. Mine’s bracket has broken so need to remove. Are there any pros/cons of removal?
Has no effect on the engine emissions at all Si, it reduces weight and makes the engine bay much tidier.
My 2.0 Z3 always flew through the emission test at MOT time.

On my Z3 it had one bolt and one nut on a stud Si. You may be able to use the existing fasteners. Just measure the depth of the hole(s) with a small screwdriver to make sure the bolts won't bottom out when you tighten them mate.

Thank you for that.

By the way how can you spot a twin vanos engine?

Zedless. Mini GP 1379
The front of the cam cover is equal/straight across the front. The single vanos steps back. Mine is also a 99 preface lift but twin vanos.d
