Two images from our brief stay over in Cheshire.

A location well known to many.....

Taken while passing through from Cheshire to Nottinghamshire.

And this was taken yesterday evening - the view from the hotel window!

While both are excellent Ian image 2 gets my winning vote. :scorecard:
You've clearly taken on board some of my advice =))

Agree Steve. Second one is a bit special.
Really not sure how I've coped all these years without the technical advice - Thanks ! ;) =))

Like the photos, I'm wondering why they're so much better than mine. I think that either:
- You've got a better camera than me
- I'm crap at photography as well as everything else
- or both!

Thank you.
It's possible to take good photos with any camera. However, the more expensive the glass the greater the chance of not just a good image but a quality one.
Both of these photos work because there are no distracting things in the image. Both use composition techniques to attract your eye to the critical elements. These are skills that can be learnt by being critical of your photos and seeing what you are photographing.
Btw - the camera may be more than the average . The second image needed in the region of 50+ attempts before I got the bird in the right place with the light and reflections. It was taken from about 200m away using a 400mm lens. I moved 7 or 8 times to get the angles right. But, it was worth it.

It's possible to get anyone who wants to to start taking better photos in fifteen minutes. Then, it's just like good driving, it's instinct and practice.
I have been doing this for 30+ years but, you never stop learning and finding new creative techniques.

just had a look at the pictures whilst on my daughter's lap top :snaphappy:,i like the first one best,it's very moody looking .

you,l soon be taking colour one,s then
great pictures
Thank you. The second one is very much a colour image. It's subtle but it's there. The best mono images start as good colour too. The blues and greens are tweaked to make the trees and sky stand out.

There is much more detail in the first image but it can't be seen here due to image compression that is applied. I'll post them on Flickr so you can see the images in full.
