TVR Cerbera Build

The Car on Pistonheads doesn't look to bad in the chassis department just dirty. From what I could see from your pictures, your chassis looks much better Lee!

Next year I would like to lift the body so I've been reading up on what info I need to know. Makes an interesting read.
Great read Lee, looks a lot of work though. Will you be doing it in your 'Zed Shed'?

Yeah but don't worry, I still have space for zeds. I even have a possible 3 in for january. I have plenty of parking space to move cars around.

I'm actually planning to make a trolley so i can wheel the Cerb body in and out.

My brother in law is an engineer who ended up working at Ford for a while but some of his mates did placements at TVR, they loved it it there! This was largely down to their concepts being designed and a prototype manufactured within a matter of days and placed on the car and tested. Where my brother in law at Ford might come up with an idea which was then passed up the food chain, discussed, discussed a bit more, eventually prototypes might be made and it would get tested to an inch of its life and might get on a car two years later. Obviously TVR was a bit more of a cottage industry but having been a passenger in a Tuscan S I can honestly say it was the fastest thing I've been in. Some of its design was a work of art and a feast on the eyes. Good luck, I'll certainly be keeping tabs on your journey.

Interesting read so far Lee. If you ever get stuck for info I know a few people in the TVR community including one who owns a very reputable TVR specialists garage so I can always make enquiries.

I have been in the passenger seat of a few TVR's myself but never driven one and can concur they are very intoxicating.

Miller, I actually have the left over parts from that build, also the team who worked on it are friends of mine

So, Edd China basically does jack s*** and just mucks about with his fat mate?

Wow, Lee I take my hat off to you, you seem to enjoy this stuff! That's a lot of dedication to strip a car that bare. Best of luck mate.

I watched the WD show about the "Cobra" kit car which needed the SVA test last Sunday afternoon. Old Ed had the body off that thing in minutes!........... The last car I did that on was an old Spitfire.;) Good luck with this @Lee, watching with interest.:)

Small update:

Fitted the new hoses and filled the engine with fresh oil. (nearly 10 litres of motorsport grade) while I'm waiting for my ECU to come back I can only crank the engine which is handy because I can make sure I have the correct oil pressure.

I tidied the engine bay a little, moving some cables and tying others back, I was going to send all the plastics away for carbon dipping but a shift in funds has delayed that a month.

More on the ECU, with the unfortunate departure of the guy helping me with the knowledge for the TVR it's forced me to send me ECU to someone else. He's removed the EPROM chip and read the code (Mapping info) and all appears ok but still the car refuses to run on all 8 cyl's. So he's sent me his spare ECU so I can do some testing moving chips around to work out if its the map or motherboard.

Looks like a Sinclair zx81 motherboard to me.

Right so cutting a long story short, I have lots of trips planned this year and find the TVR increasing frustrating to run. I have put thousands into the car to try and make it more reliable but I'm getting nowhere. So I'm going to cut my loses and come back to the BM world. The TVR will go on the market this week and I have lined up a Z4 Coupe I have 3 on my list to look at first. 3.0si Coupe

Watch this space.

That's possible but I think I've had my fill of BHP for a while. I'll go back to good mpg and looks for the little while :)
