We went to Saxilby to the Docs to get flu jabs today and noticed the Fossdyke level was quite high so when we came home we had a walk up to the lock to see how it was at our end.
Seen it higher than this but more wet weather is forecast, another couple of foot in the lock yet.

On the Trent side of the lock it has plenty of capacity yet.

The old Cottam power station, soon to be pulled down.

Downstream towards Gainsborough the old Torksey rail bridge which is now a footpath over the river.

And the "last resort" is when they put two heavy boards in these two slots and pack sandbags around them, then it's Squeaky Bum time, as Fergie used to say.

Been about 20 years since they were required though.

High round us aswell mate. River Maun isn't any better.

Yeah, has been a trifle damp mate;)

Been large sums of money spent up here on flood defences in recent years. Some poor buggers still cop it though. If I flood we're all doomed :nailbiting:

WOW! High! I can imagine The Elms people are nervous!

@t-tony , if they use explosives on the power station, that would be good to watch.

And we would hopefully have a good view too mate. They levelled some of the old High Marnham station that way.

Tony.

Following on from the Trent i called in at Saxilby today and had a look at the Fossdyke in the village.
As you can se by the bridges at either end of Bridge St. it is well out of its banks still.

That will soon fill as the ground I imagine is getting very water logged. Its been raining here a lot but the rivers have a lot of capacity.
