keep the 3 and part-ex the 4, .......might have to put some towards the Suzuki though, what with all the problems these cars are having :)]
Haha well to be fair the E89 is largely problem free, a couple of guys on Z4 forum are experiencing issues, one a leaky roof and another a number of issues which have been compounded by a poor dealer.

Mine has been largly problem free and has been finally sorted today after 2 dealer visits, fingers crossed all well now. Would still have another in a heartbeat, theyre fantastic looking cars for the money :)

Tim.

I know this is an old post but jeez guys, cars are so damn cheap over there! It's just not fair how you can pick up Zeds for a song :arghh:. There are few here and I have seen one going for $45k! I paid $14,900 for my 2001 auto, 2.2i, in immaculate condition with 99,000 klm on the clock, and I think I got a good deal.

Prices over here are also higher than in the UK.
This is as close as I can get to my car (Oct 96) and it puts the depreciation at under Euro 1.000 a year (I have had the car for 4 years) but this one does not have the hard top, cruise control, wind deflector, torneau cover, boot rack & case etc and has bog standard black leather and the 'wood look' center console. I know asking price is just that, but I think we all check on values this way as an indication.

Interesting HT. I don't feel so bad now knowing that others share in my grief. A burden shared is a burden lightened as they say. Having said that, I am envious of our mates that enjoy the lower prices :). Nice pix above... The look of the hard top is starting to get my attention.

Hi all,

Anyone know roughly what my Zed (Z3) might be worth as a trade in? I've been looking on e-bay and Autotrader for comparables but most are near to 100K on the clock or interstella lol. Mine has 24K

The car I'm looking to trade in against has a 6K forecourt price.

Cheers,

Tim.
These are not completed sales. Most are asking prices but some have bids already. Frankie

You wouldn't find a 1.9 Frankie, they are that good that no one sells them, you then only have a choice of big thirsty six pots or a 1.8 M43, but that wouldn't dry your hair!

Thanks ever so much for the replies, much appreciated. Ferdinand hit the nail on the head :) Well after much thought and reading everyones posts on here and .net and the various PM's I have decided to keep the Zed I would certainly be crazy to part ex with a dealer as the cars are worth so little now it just isn't worth it. Also if I sold to a member on here or .net I would regret that also, not in a bad way ;) but just that seeing the Zed still around would eat at me and thinking wished I never sold it. Also I have spent an awful lot on the Zed, alloys were 2K, head unit £600 etc etc which unless I pulled them all off the car I will never recoup that money. The idea was to get a car that would be more useful in the winter and with some practicality, winter wheels for the Z4 are going to be an eyewatering £2400 which is what the BMW winter wheel package costs for 18s etc, I'm now actually thinking of buying a very cheap car using it during the winter and selling it again in the spring, seems alot of E89 owners actually do this, will have to see, Ive seen a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 for less than 2K with 69000 on the clock, ideal for winter use. I'm kinda feel better now that I've made the decision not to sell the Z3.

Thanks again.

Tim.
I was in your position a couple of years ago Tim so I put my car outside our house with a for sale sign on it. Over the years I have sold many cars for myself and others by this method, I put a price of what I would have been prepared to take for it but after several time wasters and tyre kickers had been and gone I put her back in the garage. She is now our 3rd car. My wife has a VW Eos 2.0 TDI and my winter ride is a VW Touareg 2.5 TDI . Last year she only covered 3500 miles on the road for 6 months, this year she may do more. You made the right decision.:)

After pricing for over a year( I check out thousands of ads daily) now I have a pretty good grasp on what cars (zed 3) sell for in N&SA, Europe and Britain. I bought my car in England, will pay around £1350 to ship it to Canada, another £500 maybe to get it to clear customs, taxes, etc. Then whatever for gas to drive 2500 miles home. I feel this is my vacation so would have taken a driving trip somewhere anyway. And, if the milage is as I've been told, should be pretty cheap and I get to see a lot of my country. So, that's why I'm going to be driving RHD on what you'd call the wrong side of the road and why I will be buying several more for import.
So Tim, let me know if you change your mind and unless you come for a brew or two you won't have to look at it. PM me when that day occurs, please and that goes also for other members thinking of selling cars in the UK.
Cooper, this explain my willingness to wait? JIM

Just to clarify before the inquiries start, I am not a car dealer, just a hobbiest and car lover like the rest of the membership. Never was a seller, just ask my wife, or dealer but want to expand the Zed 3 experience to as many others here and introduce them to this forum of great friends who with their knowledge and willingness to share with strangers have accepted me and made me feel so welcome. , JIM

And if it is he may contact me. We all have decisions to make everyday which may or may not be right. I only wanted to let Tim and anyone else that felt they didn't want to run into their cars at events there is an option and still sell to members. I wish I had this forum to fall back on when I bought my car because I was going in blind with not knowing anyone that I could get to check it for me. Fortunetly, after having it valeted and decontaminated I have 156 pics of virtually everything on/ in my car showing the basic condition of virtually everything. And the family and I have a close relationship built up over the past 6 or more months. All removable arcs, shields, etc had to be removed so I can easily see there are no rust problems or hidden damage. JIM

And if the answers don't suit Tim, I'm sure we can come up with some that will satisfy him or frustrate him till he leaves us alone. Either way, bring 'em on, I'm feelin' feisty today, I think I'm down a pint or two. Oh Darling, can you.... ?

And now the fights on!!
