Been browsing ebay and just stumbled across this...

Super cheap for a 2.8 I think but it's got 187,000 miles on the clock!:wideyed::wideyed:

It's got Sports seats and looks pretty straight but 187,000 miles?!

Connor.

Bear in mind it's an auction Connor, and it's got 26 days to run ! :0

In saying that, it won't go much higher I don't think.

It's not on auction Lexy it's a classified add and that's the asking price. Well worth a punt in my book!

Tony.

There's a lot of rust under that bonnet..

How did you come to that conclusion Dan, are there some other pictures that I've missed or do you know the car please.? At that price it's worth a look, but if you can save me a trip that'd be good.

Tony.

Looking closely at the photos, I would say that the Wheel arch on the passenger side in the engine bay will need some major welding soon. I would wonder what the arches are like at the back too.

front wings (wheel arches) simply unbolt and bolt new ones on in fact all panels including rear arches are bolt on id be very surprised if there was any rust behind the outer panels ( that's if you wanted to go to the trouble on a 187 k car)

Far too many miles imho, plus the money you save will be spent doing it up, plus a lot more!

I have to agree with Mark. Mileage isn't an issue with these engines but the rest of the car has still done 187k as well. I think you could pretty much garentee when you get close up its not going to be overly pretty. Like Mark says, on what your saving on the asking price you'll end up paying out to make it as you'd like. I'd be very tempted to stump up a bit more and get a sub 100k car for low 2k's. :).
And just to add my humble thoughts, I think it's to expensive to be honest. ;)

tbh I didn't look at all the pics and the under bonnet pic doesn't look pretty at all probably best avoided

You may be right Paul, but most of the"rust" is only stains and would clean off. Ok, it isn't perfect but a bit of elbow grease would soon make it look much better. Lighter colours, white, silver, do show this more than any other.

I just looked at my engine bay.. I couldn't find any bit of rust at all, not on the bolts, nothing. I really don't think its a good sign!

It's difficult to tell from the quality of those pics. You'd have to see it in person. I don't think £1675 is particularly cheap for a car with that mileage

Just goes to show what mileage you can do in these cars

I would agree that rusty nuts and bolts around an engine bay are not nice to see, and there aren't any on mine, I'm simply saying that it doesn't necessarily mean that the car is as bad as it looks. With a decent service history up to, 160,000? Still worth looking at by some one who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty.

Totally agree Tony! A wire wheel takes care of a lot of sins and this could be a gem underneath the crud. A few hours of elbow grease and cleaner could make it shine again! Also a pretty good negotiation tool! JIM
