Tonneau Cover ?

Hi All,
Does anyone know where I can get a tonneau cover for my roadster. I don't mean one that just covers the retracted roof (got one). I mean one that covers the retracted roof, seats, wheel, dash and possibly the screen also - so that I can keep the roof down in those rare times when the weather is set fair. For the older folk among us (and I'm one), a tonneau cover like sports cars used to have in the '60s.

Any advice ?

@PeterJ had some custom made for his... He's on holiday at the moment, so I'll post a couple of images. Perhaps when he is back in Hong Kong, he'll drop by with some more details.

Hi and welcome from near Lincoln. I have not seen one of this type. I did have one for my Mazda a few years ago like the old style where you unzipped the portion over the drivers seat and the steering wheel?. Someone somewhere will know if they were ever made for the Z3. Best of luck in your search.

Tony.

Not seen one for a Zed but dare say a good trimmer would make you one but lots of humps and bumps with seats roll bars etc on a zed to contend with......

It's probably easier, quicker and more economical to just raise the soft top:cool:

I had been thinking along that same line but concluded after talking to my friend the upholsterer that it would be very difficult as @DavidM pointed out! But it can be done, just not economically! JIM

Does our enjoyment of Z3 have to be judged on a cost basis? If you want it you want it,things have a different value to different people.I will be very interested in such a cover, last had one on a XK 120 and that was a long time ago.

There's no doubt I have spent money on my Z3, which others may not have. But that's the point , it's yours if you want something have it, buy it or have it made.

I was just pointing out that for me the cost was just not within what I could pay. Those that are more financially secure certainly can buy what they desire! JIM

I found these pictures on the internet. I used to have one of these tonneau covers for my old Triumph Spitfire when I lived in England in the early 1980's and loved it totally! Used to drive top down in the perpetual English light drizzle no problem and was OK to leave out fully zipped up in even moderate/heavy rain. Good for keeping warm too as I was top down whenever it was not raining. I was going to make one for my Z3, but out here in Hong Kong when it rains it can pour down one foot of rain in one hour (!) so that would be way OTT and also, too hot even in the brief Hong Kong Winter. Would need press studs along the top of the doors & pin suds up against the windscreen. If I lived in a cooler climate, I would not hesitate and get one made for my Z3. Should work with roll hoops OK, just need a bigger (tight fitting) pocket. My existing cover (the one that Gary pictured) was tailor made, but before that I had one from Roadstersolutions.com and it is all about keeping the burning tropical sun off so the interior does not melt.

I have one of these for my Z3 it came with the car when I purchased it. I have never used it and its still in the bag.
I will put it on the car tomorrow and post up some pictures.

I would be a little reluctant to sell and also I would have no idea what they are worth??
