Well my tomtom 6200 has arrived and the mount that comes with it only lets me mount it on dash or windscreen where it obstructs forward vision to the extent that I find it unusable. Yes I do have BMW sat nav but don't believe it's as good as tomtom. Spent all afternoon today adapting a couple of vent mounts to to get it mounted on dash air vents where it doesn't obscure forward vision. It's not as solid as I would like so I'm after something a bit more meaty to hold it in the same area, if anyone knows of a good solid airvent mount that might be better please let me know. Sorry no pics yet as my photo ne was on charge.

Rha, Roy.

Can't help you on the mounts Roy but I have a 6200 pro and it's great

There are loads of different mounts on Ebay

I bought a mount in Florida Roy, I can't recall the make but I can take some pics for you tomorrow mate. It has a removable face which is a magnet you can stick your phone on and the mount which fits my SatNav.

Tony.

Don't have a problem tbh I open the satnav screen and sit it in front, perfect fit. Other option Roy upgrade the z4 satnav disc if Lee didn't already do it, I have and its OK as long as you don't want to use your own routing program.

Roy mount it in the bottom right of the windscreen next to the pillar. Does not obscure any vision

That's where I mount it in the truck. Ok there is more room but it's a lot less obtrusive. The 6200 is a big screen though so it might obscure vision in a small car like the coupe

Mine sits between the Dash Binnacle and the Pillar and is a 5" screen and the set up and distances i would assume will be very much the same between Coup and Roadster

The 6200 is a 6" screen Bill so it may be a little more intrusive. In the 3 I have a plastic disk on top of the dash in the middle above the heater vents and it sits there fine. Much prefer that to putting it in the windscreen..

@Rha, Roy this is what I use in my E85 it fits in the dash well and is versatile.
Most of the time it's my phone holder (useful if I'm using Google Maps Nav.)
But the magnetic pad lifts off to leave the mount which my Mio Sat Nav sits on.

It doesn't obstruct the view.

I power it using the USB socket I fitted at the bottom of the centre dash.

You get a basic plastic disc you can use elsewhere in the kit too.

If you put the metal disc low enough on the back of your phone you could use the phone for Dash Cam too.

All in all good value I think.

Tony.
Tried a magnetic mount roughly where you got yours on the dash Tony but the magnet was not strong enough. The one you use looks like it might hold it as it’s double strength. The 6200 is really too big in my opinion and so it’s heavier than my old 720. When I come up maybe we can see if your mount will hold it.

Roy;)

You're more than welcome mate, I wasn't sure that it would hold on that brushed alloy panel but it's really stuck fast. There's another option I found and I'll post a link later Roy.

Must say thanks to all who responded, just proves how good this group works for everyone.

Now how about some advise on how to win the lottery.:bookworm:
I know the answer to this one.:D

Roy.;)

Does the 6200 have the same slot mount as my Mio? May be they all do I don't know, only ever had the Mio.

I could help with that mate but my rates for that type of work are very high =))=))
