Great to get your photos back Sean. Usually possible to get data back from hard drives even if they’ve suffered damage.
Now buy yourself a Network Attached Storage drive and set your pc/laptops to back up to it regularly. If you have a disaster such as a fire or flood you rescue that and then go back for the family.

One of the reasons I like Apple Macs is that it is a simple job to set up automatic backup to any storage device. A couple of clicks is all it needs. Recovery’s is just as simple. Windows is a PITA by comparison.
Firstly @Jack Ratt - you were incredibly lucky to get out of that un-injured let alone save your dog. Fast running water of just a few inches is incredibly powerful and dangerous.
Phones are far more difficult now many don’t have memory cards. Memory cards themselves are like disk drives- they can more often than not give up their data with dedicated software on a pc.
If the memory is built into the phone, I would be tempted to find a specialist data recovery expert. You may still get nothing. It is quite possible that it’s the display on your phone that isn’t working or as mentioned the battery. It can take a long time to drive moisture out of the phone. May need dismantling to properly do the job.
Again, Apple phones have great backup features. Easy to set up to protect your important data like photos - although you may have to pay for additional storage for large volumes.
