It’s close to MOT time so I cleaned and adjusted the handbrake, whilst there I noticed the driver’s side drop link has worked it’s way off the anti roll bar, it failed last year on this.
Any idea why it comes off and only the offside?
So back to the mystery part……. Had to pull the rear bar out to press the drop link back on and this appeared on the floor, anyone know what it is? TIA

Wow, MOT is a pain in the ASS.
I understand the state of California (USA) is starting a similar inspection program, more reasons not to go back there!

Goes around the spare wheel carrier. Attached to the spare wheel carrier itself.

Brilliant thanks Lee , must have knocked it off wriggling the anti roll bar back in , although I never put the carrier back on when I rebuilt the back end .

New drop link needed, check the bracket is round the right way.

Is the u bracket on the bottom arm not symmetrical? I presumed it could go either way!

Hi. The ARB problem can be rectified by hammering a star lock washer onto the end of the ARB. if you can find my post of 28 December 2015 you will find a photo.

MOT tomorrow, will see what the tester finds , sort any other problems and get some star washers and have a go at this

I have a spare beam in the garage, but how would you know?
Passed its MOT today with a couple of advisory’s so pretty happy for a 24 year old!

I only discovered mine was twisted when I had the beam off and tried to put a bar through the swing arm supports...

It looked perfect to the naked eye.

I left there 25 years ago. My 280Z failed the "visual smog check" and was listed as a gross polluter, because a rubber cap on a connection labeled "carb", part of a 3 connector manifold on the fire wall, was missing.l One went to the smog pump , one labeled " fuel inj." Hoses were attached to the smog and fuel inj. connectors. The stupid clown doing the test thought "carb" meant California Air Resources Board. It was for cars with carburetors. It was not attached to anything but he failed the car for missing "required smog equipment". That was just one of many reasons I got the hell out of California.
