2.8 Z3
Not an ad but I've decided I have one too many Z3s. I have a facelift 3.0 and an early 2.8, I love the 2.8 but it needs time or money, neither of which are regular commodities in my life.
It will go on e-bay but my thoughts are clouded, I sort of think there is more money to be made by splitting the hard top from the car...... but the car was properly fitted with the hard top, heated screen works. So am I a purist and keep them together or do I take the money?

That's how I look at my Z3, it came to me with a tonneau cover and wind blocker so I think they should stay with it too.

Tony.

I hate the idea of splitting them, to be truthful though, I don't like the hard top, hence the 3.0 hasn't one

I might invest in a hard top for my Z4 as its going to be my only car now. Having had one on my Eunos years ago it does make it much warmer and quitter for the winter months.

Tony.

But one sunny frosty day you will want the joy of the open air, will you take the hard top off? I bought an open car for a reason.

Split it and take the money. Don't sell the bits until the car has gone and use them as haggling chips if needed.

Mercenary I know, but that's life...

Not especially mercenary, we'll see how ebay feels, not giving it away and I know the hard top is £500 all day long, the car 1250, it has some faults, but mot'd new brakes and new radiator - started it to sell it and it split ----- bugger, I won't sell a pup, ~I'm honest probably cast financially but I feel clean

TBH you will not see the full value of the hardtop and fitting kit left on the cat, the buyer will see them as "standard", I would split them off, £500 for the hardtop and £250 for the fitting kit but with the RHW button and loom you could maybe get £300. It is the right time of year to be selling.

Sounds like very good value at 1250. I agree with Gaz' comments. I hope you get a fair buyer.

Cheers,

Jonno

Spot on Brian, I split mine and sold the hardtop & fitting kit for £700, tonneau cover £100.
Still have Type 1 Wind deflector with the mountings for the turrets, boot rack & suit case and never used chrome gills.

Spilt them and take the money, as already said above, leave it on and potential buyers will see it as standard kit.

I think i would be tempted to split. The 2.8 will fetch that kind of money i would have thought with out the hardtop.
Although it came as standard it is an optional extra and they demand a good price.
Split you stand to make more money at the asking price it will probably sell and be split, selling the car will almost pay for the roof and kit.
