Hi my 1998 2.8 has a slight tapperty noise on tick over from the rocker cover sounds like a noisy tappet just done a engine flush and oil change but it hasn't made a difference how easy is it to set the tapers on these ? I guess they are hydraulic , is this a common fault ? As soon as the revs rise above 1000 rpm it sounds as sweet as a nut , any thoughts? Thanks in advance

The oil in the hydraulic tappets has probably become slightly gummed up. If it is, short of stripping it down and cleaning the tappets, you'll just have to live with it.

Not something to lose sleep over.

I would put a tin of Wynns hydraulic valve lifter concentrate into a hot engine and give it a good run.
What engine flush did you use?

Tony.

That's the one I would use. I'd definitely try the Wynns additive though. My 2.0 Z3 was the same but it ran lie a sewing machine aftèr using that. eh Roy? @Rha
