In July 2019 we flew to San Francisco for a family holiday - the Mrs and me with the 4 kids.

Our return trip was significantly delayed and long story short Thomas Cook agreed to refund us £3,180.

The day after they had told me over the phone that the cheque was in the post they entered in to liquidation - suffice to say the cheque never arrived.

Since then I have been waiting for the auditors to conclude the liquidatuonn process and facilitate my payout.

The payment finally came through this week but rather than the original amount of £3,180 we only received £49.42 :bashhead:

Not good and annoying - thought you might have been a preferred creditor in this case as owed compensation ?

Liquidators = license to print money, get paid a fortune and creditors get a pittance. Only interest they serve is themselves, sometimes the company thats liquidated.

Indeed. The accountants (liquidators) get 100p in the pound. In this case Garrie got 1.5p.

I've had a couple of customers go belly up over the years owing me money (not a lot fortunately). When I saw the accounts from the liquidation, it was truly shocking. I got nothing either time BTW, but still got copies of how the accountants took the lot. Nice of them to rub the creditors faces in it!

Did you have any insurance covering flight delay/cancellation?
