Mine is to SORN on Jan 1st 2020 for two months......drop the rear end and replace all the bushes, change the discs Etc, plus drop the gearbox and replace the clutch......assuming no problems with MOT and running up till then......

Only reservation......jacking it up and sodding about underneath

I'll be sticking mine up on the ramp over winter to take a good look at what's what and take it from there. Depending on what I find will depend on what new skills I will need to develop

@andyglym ......I can assure you that you have the skill to do anything on a Z3......what is possibly missing is the confidence....which is what I have been suffering from .
Most of the maintenance / repairs / upgrade is just a matter of getting on with it......what holds most people back is themselves thinking can I do this?.............Yes you can, is the answer....just be methodical and you will find that nothing is that difficult.
If you run into problems there are people on this forum that will be only to pleased to help.
Until I bought mine just over a year ago I had never worked on a BMW.....But now After all the things I’ ve done on mine I would tackle anything on the car as the Z3 is such a well designed car for the amateur mechanic.

You're right to be fair mate. I've done discs, pads, calipers and caliper strip downs, oil and filters, changed alternators, seat bushes and bits and pieces. I have a new fuel sender unit just in at home waiting to be fitted. Looked on Pelican parts and doesn't look too bad to be honest. I'll have a go at that when time permits as I just know that a garage wouldn't prep properly and end up with fuel on the carpets. I've got some reasonable tools, a good ramp and a massive garage so once my tour of the World finishes in August and life is back to normal I'll have more time. Looking forward to it. My lad did 2 years at college and passed his mechanics course so no excuse really.
