Hard top fitting kit.
When i bought the car it was on there but i don't have a hardtop and i don't really want one, mine is a summer fun car.
I see that they are worth a few quid and in demand so seems pointless it going to waste, it might as well go to someone that can make use of it.

What are they worth? Easy to remove?

Certainly a way to release some value from the car. Ebay rates are £300-400 usually just for brackets. £400 is commanded with the loom and switch for rear demister included.

If you want to be realistic and move it on, I would say £700-800 for roof and fitting kit, as long as its a genuine fitting kit

Take your time removing the kit. It will be easier but still only take a couple of hours. If you car has the rear defroster, one bracket will have a wire bridge with contacts plugged into spade terminals on the bracket. Be careful with this.

The plastic covers come off with a 3mm allen wrench and pull off the end of a horizontal bolt for the soft top bracket. Loosen this horizontal bolt (from under the rubber door molding) for additional clearance to remove the hardtop mounting bolts (all 13mm box or open end).

Find a pdf copy of the BMW fitting instructions to get a diagram of the kit parts. Each side will have one allen bolt, the bracket (upper and lower parts bolted together), one plastic cover, and two mounting bolts.

If you have the rear defroster switch, remove it and leave any wiring (it's prewired). The original kit included the switch AND a triple switch panel. I removed both and ordered an original accessory bin.

The above suggestions are good ones. Many of the "kits" for sale are merely the two brackets with maybe the four mounting bolts. A largely complete kit is much more desirable.
