Went out to my Zed this morning and thought the rear end was sitting a little high. I tried to start her up and instantly knew some thieving bast**ds have cut out my cat.
I live on the main street though our village and the car is parked on the drive outside my garage with a street lamp on the other side of the road.
They did me last year when they butchered the exhaust on my Honda Accord. That cost me around £1200 to put right.
To say I'm p***** off is an understatement. I feel violated and just like last time I don't think I can keep the car now. I had to sell the Honda after the last incident.
The police don't want to know, they just give you a crime number.

Gary thats a shitter mate, sorry to hear that. Scumbags are everywhere mate.

Fit some cctv cameras even if they are just dummy ones, it might deter them?

It's the same over in Florida, every day on the ring App. there are videos of kids roaming these estates checking car doors at 3 and 4am. But while idiots continue to leave wallets, cards and even guns in their unlocked vehicles it will never stop.

Tony.

Where do the scum sell these things? Thought scrappers had been made to clean up their act, proof of ID no cash payments etc…..

I had one stolen off a fiat ducato box van. The cut was so good I thought they had un bolted it. The didn't even need to jack it up as it was a box van. Maybe one of the breakers on here has a replacement

As long as scrap dealers keep buying the robbers will keep stealing.
Lets face it it's hardly rocket science to make scrap traceable.
Thank heavens the Police gave you a crime number, what would you do without them eh ??

At least you can replace a 2.8 cat - the 2.2 and 3.0 cats are not available anywhere.

I fitted a cheap crap one to my E36 with the proper one in storage.

One of these on Ebay won't be silly money. They last 2 or maybe 3 MOT's.

A bit of a concern 3.0 cats not available anywhere.

All you can do is try and make sure it doesn't get stolen. Security lights and cameras are the best deterrent but nothing is 100%.

The "old" OEM cats are the ones they target as they contain more of the precious metals. The one they nicked from me was the one supplied new with car. It's 25yrs old but still good and the car has never ever had a problem with emissions. The "cheap" aftermarket cats only cost £100ish new but will only last a couple of years at most so are not worth their risks to steal.
I've just bought a new exhaust front section including cat for around £120. It's being delivered tomorrow. I've also bought a cat back exhaust from Poland for £65, so a full system for £185. Once fitted I'll MOT the car and put it up for sale unless I have a change of mind. At the moment I'm thinking it's got to go

RealOEM shows two diagrams of exhaust systems for 2.2i 2002 models. There's no information of which one applies. A BMW part number might help in getting an aftermarket replacement with finding the wrong one lands on the mat.
