Steve - Hope your car comes back in time for Christmas with a nice big bow tied around it!
Well done Sean for helping sort out an old wreck (but, at least the car isn't too bad =)))

Had most of the day on it today and made some head way, I really wanted to get the sills off to see what surprises might be in store for me and have to say that I was really pleased with what I found, the chassis rails are solid with only surface rust and very little at that

The jacking points are normally the worse part of the chassis as they collect and hold dirt along with moisture but again these are really good you can see the worse part is the front edge of the O/S but still only surface corrosion, All the corrosion will be dealt with,

Next I took a look at the bonnet as it is peppered with stone chips, all chips where DA sanded with 120 and finished with 500

All the exposed metal was treated with acid etch and then 3 coats of high build primer

Crikey mate you don't hang about :wideyed:.
I must say I'm relieved there are no horrors lurking behind the sills :D.
I guess perhaps it's not been used much in wet weather.......till we got it .
Thanks for the pics and update,It's exciting stuff :).

You've got a good one pal, those jacking points are in great condition and once treated will last for quite a few years before they need looking at again, I was thinking today that it would be quite easy to remove the bottom fixings of the outer sill and hose them out to get rid of the dirt thats in there as thats what causes the corrosion, I wish I had taken a pic of the floor when I had finished as it looked like I had emptied a flower pot of soil in a long line where your sills had been removed.

That's good to know mate as I know some zed owners have revealed all manor of nasties after removing the sills.
I can imagine there was a fair amount of good quality top soil being held in there after going on @t-tony's and @Mint's cruses this year .
What are your thoughts on fitting mud flaps ?. Did have a set on the front, meant to refit them after taking them off to clean behind them.

Very true Dave,I put it like that as i was trying to disguise that it was most likely high quality Derbyshire cow poop:whistle:. Sorry if the top soil had a farm yard odour to it Sean :shy:.
