A nice crisp sunny day today so perfect for a good clean underneath, inside and wash, polish and wax. The undercarriage is holding up well post it's session down at the ZedShed HQ, that'll get a hand-wash, touch up where required and a good coating of ACF-50 to help keep the corrosion at bay. Wheels and spacesaver cleaned today, it's raining on Wednesday so a garage day waxing the wheels, and general cleaning of the underneath.

Having three sets of wheels has its bonuses

After. Spacesaver still looking good 👍

After 8 years of ownership, approaching winter 🤡 I thought I'd get the A/C looked at as its never worked since I've had it

Anyway, a leak test, which failed followed by two 'O' ring seals for the dryer pipes and a re-gas and jobs a good'un  Absolutely baltic 🥶

Happy days

Nice one Andy good news piping ok
Stephen.
Yeah and phew. Fortunately the mechanic I now use is the Farmers son 150 yards away, it's his own business and I've known him for years, a good lad.

I was fortunate in that my ex employer put us through training to safely use refrigerant and supplied the machines to do the job.;)

A new lease of life and driving sweet as a nut. 🚀

Steering rack change, a used steering UJ for a mere £30! Took a look at the old one and it wouldn't even turn in the vice
Lower suspension arm with rear bush O/S/F and N/S/F replaced

Wheeling bearings N/S/F and O/S/F replaced

Corroded brake pipe changed

Tracking. Perfect and straight as an arrow 🏹

@ £40 an hour less VAT (5.5hrs) £264 labour Inc VAT = £664.66 total.

That's more BHP added I'm convinced ;)

Imagine taking that to a Main Dealer! :arghh:

The Farmers son owns his own garage and it's on the farm so no overheads as all the leccy comes from the mahoosive farm wind turbine so good for keeping costs low 😉

Sadly I've now run out of miles until my insurance renewal :arghh: ........ may as well clean the old girl

Another 12 months for Bella in the bag. Interesting first time fail for the headlights, my mechanic had the near side headlight out when he did my A/C.

A/C, not sure about the off-side being put of kilter :pompus:

Anyway, Clarence (for those that know) is no longer cross eyed :watching:

That aside, no advisories, which is nice

Unless the lights are actually broken/not adjustable, I am sure most MOT places would have fixed that rather than fail it.

You'd think so but they don't, not in my experience 🤷‍♂️

I always did if the adjusters were free because it saved having to drag the beam tester back out after the test. Only difference is, I never put it down so customer didn't get charged.

Some stations will always charge for adjustment as in a way free easy money unfortunately.

That’s an interesting comment Stephen, I’m keeping an eye out for a Z3 and keep looking on eBay and auto trader, once I see a car I like I usually check out the mot history on the vehicle smart app, the amount of cars that have advisories for out of line lights really surprised me, but now it makes sense, how illuminating.

There is also another potential reason for what you are seeing on zeds.

The headlight on the zed 3 has adjustment for vertical and horizontal on dip as most cars do that in itself is not an issue.
I think the issue is created by the fact that zed 3 lights have 4 body mounting points if the bolts are loosened ( for example change of units) the headlight has a degree of float vertical and horizontal so could be refitted out of position also to add to this the mounts themselves also have adjustment ( can be screwed in and out a bit) and i think both of these have an effect on the mot fail stats for headlight compliance so probably contributers rather than mot stations trying to make a fast buck.

The mounting adjustment are for aligning the body lines, once you have the light unit set in the body you can then adjust the actual light beams themselves.
