Ladies, gentlemen & fellow Zers,

It is with heavy heart that I have finally realised my health is so changeable day to day and even on a good day my ability to drive any reasonable distance has left me, I am unable to stay in any sort driving position irrispective of class of vehicle for more than a couple of hours at most. The realisation when I awoke this morning after a very good day yesterday, that my days of taking part in any rallies or organized eventsare now well and truly over.
I fell in love with driving from the very first turn of a key on my 17th birthday, at the wheel of my first car, a mk 2 bronze coloured savage cortina, until yesterday when I took both my TT & my Z out for short runs to keep the batteries topped up. 42 happy years and over 100 different cars later I must resign myself to the fact that the only members I will ever meet are the local to me members, and on occasions that a run or a rally brings you through glasgow, I would relish the opportunity to meet up for coffee and cake.
Well my friends I must sign off for now as I'm becoming a bit emotional, I will however stay active on the forum, and when the time comes, I will offer for sale anear E89 3rd twin turbocharged beast that has wanted for nothing and is in absolutely A1 condition both mechanically and cosmetically and is very highly spec'd.
Hope to at least meet some of you at some point,
Very best wishes to you all,
John

Very sorry to read your post @John Thompson I wish you all the best and stay on the forum and keep up with what's happening.

Sorry to read your post @John Thompson but your health is the most important thing, wishing you all the best.

Brian

Very nice post - but you need only stay in a Zed for an hour or less to enjoy - hopefully that will be the case until you finally retire from driving - Best Wishes!!

David.

Just hit it again John and it will cancel the dislike

Sorry to read this John but as Brian said, your health is more important.
Sounds as though you have enjoyed many happy years of motoring, in a broad range of cars, which you'll always have the memories of.
Hope you stay on the forum.

Regards
Steve.

I have indeed enjoyed every minute of it, thanks Steve

Aww mate I really feel for you, a lovely post but very sad news.

Sorry to read your post John, you obviously have great memories of your driving career. Hope it's not over yet, but your health will dictate that. Are you still coming on the Lakes Cruise? If so I'll see you there.

Sorry to hear that John, as I was looking forward to meeting you on the Scottish run.
I will take your name off the list.

Might see you sometime in Glasgow.

Hi John, only you can dictate how long you're able to drive your car and if you can, enjoy short drives in your local area as long as you can do that. Something that will come to all of us sooner or later, but that's life, memories are yours forever.

Tony.

Sorry to hear that it has come to this John, I am glad to hear that you will still follow the forum and keep in touch. :)

Really sorry to read your post John .
Will need to make a point of coming up to see you in Glasgow at some point ( as long as your putting the kettle on ;);))

I find myself saying it more and more, " do things while you can ", because we don't know what's around the corner. Sorry to hear your troubles @John Thompson, you must be gutted. I know I would be. Don't be a stranger on here though. Good luck.

I'm genuinely touchrd by all your good wishes, it really helps as I dont have anyone to talk things through with, so once again I find myself humbled and wishing I'd done this before things got to this point. Unfortunately I wont make it to the lakes as they are amongst my best memories , god was having a good day when he did the lakes, amd, gave the Scots the highlands.
Stevo the kettle is always on standby mate and you're welcome at any time, its also an open invitation to any zedder thats passing through and I'd genuinely would like to meet as many of you as possible.
Thank you again one and all, enjoy the lakes guys and I'll be with you in spirit.
