......... and driving up and down the farm track circa 8 times a day for 5 years has taken its toll.

Luscious is dead :(

1. Needed a 4th injector so got that fixed.
2. The clutch went, 130k miles so not bad but the price for a new one was! £1200 before fitting :banghead: Luscious is in superb nik so we asked the garage to have a good look round to see if it was a viable option.
3. Steering rack goosed :banghead:
4. Prop shaft goosed :banghead::banghead:
5. Crack in the Diff :banghead::banghead::banghead:

So, new, to us car then. 1 day of googling and viewing the C-in-C settled on this

Say hello to Betty (the Yeti )

16 reg, 23k miles FSH, £10,250 post bartering, New MOT and a free next service and 1 year warranty

1.2 Turbo. Not seen it yet but the C-in-C is happy so job done.

RIP Luscious :arghh:

Hi Betty! RIP Lucious,
The car that someone kindly wrote off for me this year was my beloved Freida the Freelander. I had headgasket done at 62k, shelled out for a new clutch, some cooling system work done and spent a small fortune on her, got totalled at 68k miles :banghead: poor girl but now I'm looking for my Zed.
May you and Betty have a long and happy life together

Great family car up until now. Ho hum, that's life I suppose. Still, this means Betty will get the full Autoglym treatment next week, every cloud :D

Sorry to hear Freida was totalled :(

Only thing i dont like about tbe Yeti (and the Roomster) is the way the doors arent flat along the bottom (looks nice) but if like me you like to ride with window down and arm on door - you can't, it's so uncomfortable.
Other than that great car.

Tony.

ps. Looks like they may have sorted my gripe on these later models?

Chose it primarily because of how well it has fared over the years by means of lack of breakdowns etc. Spoke to an AA guy a few years ago and at the time Skoda were there least called out to car, by a distance. Touching wood mate.

Many Taxi drivers/owners in Lincoln have Skodas Andy and that speaks volumes.

These old Freelander's are getting on mate and were never great to start with. Jue's were both great but they are just not worth repairing when they die their death. New Skoda's are top quality cars and I'm sure Betty will be just ace.

Agreed mate though it's such a shame as mint is an understatement inside, outside and underneath. The local garage that has her has recognised this and is trying to gain interest for the parts as she's worth much more than scrap value. Yup. Was looking at a Yeti as the replacement when the time had come, it has and we pick Betty up on Sunday ........ Wax on - Wax off inbound :detailing:

And the state I have seen the underside of LR's and Toyota Pick ups after a few years farm use, fair play you must really look after the cars

We have a local farm that takes a large herd [well large to me take over 5 minutes]across the main road 4 times a day ---and it needs new tarmac after a couple of years.

Yup, a full jet wash underneath on every wash. No tarmac road for us, just a 300m track through the fields. Luckily I'm allowed access another way which is not so bad for my Zed

Shame about Luscious but I'm sure you'll enjoy giving Betty the Autoglym treatment. Hopefully by the time we see her next week ;)

Shame about the Landy Andy.
Done well for a 16 year old motor traipsing up and down a farm track to be fair. Am sure someone would take it and replace the drive train and rack as a project.

A lot of people would remove the prop shaft and transfer housing and make it a 2 wheel drive. Sterling rack not a major issue.
