BMW already stopped doing manual transmission on M140i with the same B58 engine from July, so probably new Z4 follows the same pattern (although the ZF8 transmission is great)

Today, given present traffic conditions I would definitely have a auto gearbox. After all they change up quicker than a manual box but you still have the alternative of using the paddle shifters if you want more driver involvement. Also because of the twin clutch configuration, you have the economy of a manual box as well. You also have 7 or 8 speeds to play with.

I've got the zf8 in my 330e

It is absolutely superb.

But I'd still want a manual

Saw a new MX 5 the other day. Looks like a fun sportscar, like Z3, that BMW no longer has in its range. Big mistake BMW.:(

Although it hasn't been announced formally, I've seen estimated prices of $50k for the base 3.0 model and $65k for the 4.0 model

At those prices, I can't see it being a big seller?

Yep, I know, its written all over it, looks like BMW lost interest in roadsters and just gave it away to keep a few punters happy.
Never was into the Z4 properly as always a Z3 lover but with this deal now, I never will be.

As said before, it's a Toyota with M badges on.:( The M brand is now all but worthless, great loss for short term gain BMW.
