I would imagine the fuel is automatically ordered when their tanks get a to a certain level, easy to do and takes a job out of someones hands.
BP had a number of stations they were unable to supply ( around 10 or 12 ) and some Tesco stores too ( BP supplied ) this started the ball rolling to where we are now.
They may of course be having corn issues due to the summer we've had, which may lead to problems with production
