Andy another top Lakes weekend weather turned out decent especially Sunday total mileage 671 bar the run from Southwaite services to barrow on the Friday night ( it was dark still had 90 mile to go ) all with roof down .
Great route light traffic bar Ambleside lakes showing off their best once again this weekend.
Got to say looking at some of the pictures the 4 colours look great together.
Andy great seeing you as always Lee , Charlie, Mark and Wendy I will see again in a couple of weeks for the Scottish run ( shame again that other commitments have got in the way for you Andy ) .

Highlights of the weekend the sun coming out on day 1 and going blue sky sunshine for a bit

for the run up to Honister slate mine.
Day two Lee was so funny with the cyclists holding us up we were behind him running sweeper and Lynne and I were in hysterics also going a walk up round the Roman Fort was nice never done it in the 10 times or so I've been there it was nice to have that few minutes to go do that plus the view from the outcrop I was standing on the other side of the Fort gave a fantastic view up the valley.

Great photos Stephen. Thanks for sharing. Did you have time to walk then? Away from driving?

I used to live near there (less than a mile from The Woolpack) and the story that I heard was that most of what you see today was built by a young lad (the phrase "not all there" was used at the time). When the council / heritage people found out what he was doing they slapped a restriction order on the place.

The road up Hardknott and Wrynose used to be just a gravel path before WW2. The tarmac road was constructed by Italian POWs (which is quite ironic, when you think about it :D)
