Sooo want to do it this weekend but I have the pleasure of work to hold me back
 
We stayed here http://www.lyndhurstcountryhouse.co.uk/ it's in Newby Bridge, clean, comfortable and good breakfast. The owners both have MGs and are interested in cars. Pub with meals just down the road but not much else within walking distance. You may be better in Windermere if you are looking to spend the evening there. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that but its fully booked for the weekend as are all places that we have checked out, looks like Scarborough is beckoning
