The hot summer of 1976

Blows my mind knowing you all can remember that clearly that far back, I wasn't born till 12 years later :P

Enjoyed reading that.

Devon with what was to be me future other half and her parents caravanning. her dad tried to drive up Porlock hill with the van still hitched. That was fun. The old Austin Cambridge didn't know what hit her. What a summer:D

Slightly off topic but a few years earlier, I towed a caravan up Porlock hill with my Triumph Spitfire. 5500 to 6000RPM all the way, When we got to the top the exhaust manifold was glowing red. :)
Spit and caravan.webp

Apart from the hot summer of 1976 the only thing that springs immediately to mind was that at 28yrs old I'd recently finished ten yrs in HMF Army and had just turned down a job with the security services cos of the nights away from my 2 children. Biggest mistake of my working life as it turned out, yeh that's what I really remember about summer of 1976. Could've retired at 55 instead of 65. :bored:

Rha, Roy.

Well mate, ain't hindsight wonderful, eh?;) You'd have worn that Z3 out and been on a Z4 by now.=))=))

Tony.

How differant a life it might have f been, but somehow I think I would have had a performance/sports car whatever, but as for a 4...........................................naaaaaaaar Z3M or M3 maybe. (now no more dirty talk) =))=))=))

Roy.

It is about 2 miles long and has a gradient of in 4 on the hairpins. Quite something for this country.:)
II now live a few mile from The famous Porlock Hill have taken my TR4 up it a few times and its no prob for the Z3. There is a private toll road that cuts the hill out that runs along the coast with stop off points.
