Anyone else watched the latest offering yet?

Tony.

Yep didn't rate it and been waiting an age, felt quite disappointed with it, can't see many more coming now.

Yep, me too Dave.

Tony.

Just felt a bit like the same old thing from them, I'll watch them because it's a car program but it felt like some of the Top Gear specials

I agree, it’s same old same old. I can’t see how recycling the same tired old crap can endure to be honest.

Watched it last night, average show for me.

Same story but still enjoyable. Especially liked when Hammond burned his balls.

Oh good, its not just me then . . .

Premise - its an okay idea; brilliant location, filming on a mixture of roads, should be entertaining. Surely ? Something just seemed . . . Lacking ? It was about 30 mins too long for a start, and 12 months too late.

I'm still going to watch the Scotland American-Land-Barge Special tho', when it eventually surfaces . . .

Think i must have watched the wrong one nota car in sight just boats on very mucky water

I rated that one as”Misplaced” Paul, as you say no cars so what was the point ?

Tony.

The Grand Tour isn't a car show. It's a personality show, where 3 people do stuff and get paid a fortune by Amazon to do so.

To quote the description on Amazon.
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are back with The Grand Tour. A show about adventure, excitement and friendship... as long as you accept that the people you call friends are also the ones you find extremely annoying. Sometimes it's even a show about cars. Follow them on their global adventure. Episodes contain product placement.

Never watched it as don’t have Amazon subscription, must admit their last offerings on TG got to be just plain daft.
So doesn’t sound as though I’ve missed anything worth watching.

Yes it was.

Tony.

Didn't bother with the Grand tour after the 1st series and TG is just a load of old rehash too. I've gone back to watching Tiff....who knew that would happen  If you haven't see On the Road it has at least got some cars in it, AND they discuss them.....Still some nonsense in there mind you.

I have wondered for some time if there is demand for a 'serious' motoring program (we have enough cooking programs for heavens sake!) one which reviews new cars, motoring trends and developments, I'm sure there is!

All these shows start off as good ones apart from the The Grand Tour which was a continuation of the below TG format

Top Gear in the 70s was a (if not a little staid) informative car magazine program, then the 80s became a proper Car program, through to the oo's where it became an entertainment programme with cars then onto 3 blokes just taking the p*** out of everything.

Wheeler dealers started off with Edd China fixing up bangers cheaply, on cars most could afford using basic tools most could afford or owned and passing on advice most could follow, then slowly became a crap American programme based in the states that held little interest for its initial audience and stopped showing half of the work actually done spending what can only be described as a small fortune, hence why Edd departed the show. I could even put up with Mike Brewer in the early series, but then he just became to difficult to watch.

CAR SOS also went downhill in not showing the restoration detail in later series that they did in the earlier ones instead preferring to show more cockwomble antics by Tim Shaw, who the show could have done without IMHO.

On the Road is a show somewhat like the noughties TG with Tiff Nedell, but they still seem to want to do some Cockwombling of their own, gods know why.

It’s as if they think they know what the viewing public want to see, but taking the comments on here (and many other platforms) as evidence it’s clear they don’t. Even the Henry Cole bike programme has gone the same way, ie 3 blokes in a shed.

Tony.

if there is demand for a 'serious' motoring program
Get yourself on YouTube and you will find as much quality car content as you take. Even most of the smaller channels have way better content than the mainstream TV crud. I watch a lot of the "one man and a camera" car channels, very little in the way of glitz or glamour.

Take this American guy who bought a Reliant Robin and uses it regularly amongst a load of other unusual cars like a Trabant.
