Perhaps we need a separate banter thread section!:D
We have one called "general banter", this thread is in the "introduce yourself" section, where new people are to be welcomed and not nit picked.

My wife says my sense of humour is very barbed! And yes, I do like hard banter, I think it's fun. I guess though not everyone gets it.......................... Perhaps we need a separate banter thread section!:D
Perhaps give the newbie a bit of time to settle in before the hardcore banter starts will keep them coming back. Maybe we should all reread Gaz's thread about how proud he was of everyone during Frankie's trip. Thanks Dad!

i'm guessing this is a generational thing as well, if you have grown up with mobile phones and are used to using "text speak" which generally has a complete lack of grammar, then it can in the eyes of some make you appear to be only semi literate...I am 42 and "straddle" the generations as so to speak but still feel that in order to be taken seriously on a public forum good grammar is important,or at the very least a display of the basic understanding of it.

That said there are many ways to express oneself and sometimes breaking the rules of grammar is a good way to do it............I tend to over use that particular literary device but it accurately conveys how I speak...the pauses and an implication of a thought process works much better for me than, that! I always found comma's to abrupt..

what is slightly uncomfortable to admit is that Liam was maybe pulled up over a perceived level of intelligence based on his improper use of Grammar..I hope we didn't do that to him as its a slippery slope!..

I really don't wish to fan the flames and hope I have not offended anyone with my over analysis of the situation..

It's simple, your walking though a car park a big muscle bound guy with a broken nose and a scar down his cheek points a gun at you and asks "what do you think of my car"until you know him better word your answer carefully.

I just think you can be funny without getting personal..........I agree that a first post should not be about selling something, but then again a lot of forum users are shy and just lurk and utilise the great information I post for their betterment, so if it useful and helps then the forum has worked.

If people want to be pompous, show off there knowledge and belittle people, then there is a forum of like minded people (.net) that is a better fit for them.

We the forum members need to work hard to keep this forum the nice place to visit that it is, and have fun at the same time.

This thread is locked this thread for the time being, and I've had to temporarily hide the last post made.

PLEASE THINK in future how you respond to new members.

I would suggest that any member confused by the rules consult this thread http://zroadster.org/threads/welcome-to-the-forum.3/ in particular the very first rule we wrote.

1.1 Please be considerate to other members. Personal attacks, threats and flames will not be tolerated. Treat others as you would wish to be treated.

A G.S.O.H. helps
I agree but we don't all have the same one. Maybe you should listen to your wife? NO offence intended.

My dear fellow, I can assure you my S.O.H. is alive and well, blossoming in fact. I find lots of things to laugh about everyday, some about my advancing years!. So you can keep your second-hand S.O.H. for someone else.

Talking of jokes.

A chum of mine came home early from the golf course to find his wife in bed with his best friend. He grabbed his Big Bertha and killed him with one almighty blow to the head. His wife said, "If you keep on like that you won't have any friends left".

Well, it made me chuckle!
