Been to Gorleston a few times when we've been out that way on holiday, not to the golf course mind. I've always had an affliction with golf, in so far as I can hit the bloody ball further than I can see it.=)) Pitch and putt is about my limit, or crazy golf, Shirl says there's a reason I'm good at that.;)

Just read @miller1098 post about his good old days on his bikes.
When I was a kid I became a member at my dad's golf club just out side Salisbury and I am talking about the 1970's.
Used to get there on our pushbikes, me and my buddy, with our clubs strapped across our backs.
One day we were both walking to the first tee and the Ahole of a club captain with his snotty son stopped us and made us clean up the plastic wrappings that they had just taken of their new sets of clubs and chucked on the ground, so that they could get to the tee box before us.
The next weekend me and my buddy were ball spotters during a competition on the fairway of the first hole so we got one of the lads to come down and tell us when knobend and snotty were about to tee off.
They never worked out how they both had played such bad shots to have both lost their balls...

Back to back club championships can't remember which years though think it was 01 & 02. Put end to a 7 year domination from the brother of ex ryder cup star Peter Baker.

Congratulations chipper on your hole in one, it's a fantastic feeling when and if it ever happens. I hope you got the beers in after!

My first hole in one came when I was 14, playing in an event for the local BMW dealership of which my dad had an invite as he purchased a BMW from them, but couldn't enter as he didn't play golf so they allowed me to play instead. It was on the nearest the pin hole, couldn't really get any nearer although it was just a shame they wouldn't allow me the hole in one prize as I was too young and not a professional. Any guesses on what it was?
The Z3 that I should have had, and I had to buy the drinks..... and you didn't mention that you won the comp, got into the next round which was the Qualifier for the BMW Championship and won that too, but was not allowed to progress onto the full competition!!

You forgot to mention: the two Club Championships were when you were aged 16 and 17..Oh and while your at it,
Best round as under 12 in the English Golf Unions Reid Trophy.
4th place in the McGregor Trophy, (English Golf Union under 16s)
2nd place in British Heart Foundation Junior Championship,
Shropshire and Herefordshire Junior Captain
Shropshire and Herefordshire Regular Mens team player even though still a junior.
Best 2nd Round Gross, Carris Trophy (English Golf Union under 18s)
2nd place in Belfry Junior Opportunities Cup.
the year after, age 14.....Winner of the Belfry Junior Opportunities Cup shooting gross 4 over par on the Brabazon course (white tees)
Shropshire and Herefordshire Spring Cup Junior Championship winner 3 years in a row.
Winner of the Douglas Johns Trophy, another England Junior Event, beating Justin Rose's Score.
Winner of the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters.
England Junior International representing country twice.
Member of the English Golf Union's School of Excellence

and loads more that this proud dad has watched.....

Oh yes, and your full PGA Graduation last year..

anyone still up for a game with him?

Wow!! Puts my 'golfer of the year' award in in 2008 to shame..............Great achievements.

One of the great things about this fabulous game is the handicapping system. It does allow players of all standards to compete against each other, somewhat leveling the playing field, with a 28 handicapper able to beat a scratch golfer on 'their day'.

I also play ten-pin bowling where a similar handicapping system (usually played off 7/8 handicap) still keeps the odds in favour of the better player but does help to stop the improving player getting demoralised when getting his ass kicked every week.

I find 3/4 Hcp allowance from the low man does a similar thing in golf, full handicap should never be allowed, it takes away any incentive to improve.

To answer your "still want to play" question.....................absolutely!!
