Just been reading this myself and was just about to post the same but you beat me to it James.

Very worrying indeed as it appears the beurocrats in the EU have quietly sneaked this one in by the back door by amalgamating several minor legislations to constitute this one and there is no apparrent consultation. This will rock the motor industry to the core as there are many companies out there that will be made bankrupt overnight.

The public are not made aware of things like this happening
I had enough the bloody emissions/filter with my van last year, cost a fortune

Yes it's ridiculous, hopefully the UK will see sense as it will have a big effect on jobs I imagine. Hopefully it will go the same way as the eu cookie law on websites which has been dampened down here.

I wouldn't worry about it too much just yet Wayne, the car modification retail industry in the UK is huge. Retail = VAT = money for the government. :-?

It's a load of tosh..

If a car has different alloys it will be classed as modified..

It won't happen

Well as you now have to notify your insurance company if you switch from the supplied run flats to regular tyres and stuff like that it wouldn't surprise me if some idiot agreed to put it in place

I'm always interested to know how you are expected to know if your car has been modified. Some mods are obvious, but some are not.

Has anyone stripped the car down to find out if the previous owner put a braided clutch hose on?

Yet, the irony of it all is that using high octane fuel is OK.
