....starting with this piece of plastic...

...it actually flexes when you press it. I’ve had better quality junk off eBay in the past. This is OEM!

I don't like any of the new BMW's boring and plastic

I wonder if it's a feature nowadays?

Pedestrian friendly front ends?

It looks like a plastic cover now.

It drives very well, and you can't see the grill from behind the wheel

That does look nasty though I must say! Got the Z3 and the 4GC on the drive, bet you can get which gets most interest. Little lad down the road asked if he could have a sit in the Z3 the other day. His mum was all "don't bother him", 10 minutes later he was still sat in the drivers seat with the roof down making driving noises :)

That’s what they used to say about Hyundai / Skoda / Kia etc

But now they all actually look nice(er?) and drive nice (Kia stinger), what has become of the world!

Cool kid

New cars have no character everything seems like cheap plastic

If I lean too deeply into my 3 Series GT (hatchback) then the rear bumper cover flexes under my knee very easily.

But that and the fact it has no rear wiper are the only 2 things I can complain about. It's a gorgeous car otherwise and certainly has nothing else about it which I would call cheap. The fact it looks like a Mondeo but goes like stink (so is a real Q car), has armchair levels of comfort and is effortless to drive when I do 30,000 miles a year is all the character I need.

And that's from someone who otherwise has no big interest in BMW generally apart from Z3s and their Gran Turismos.

And I agree with @Tfp it could be a pedestrian friendly feature. My 3 Series has pyrotechnic charges to pop the bonnet up slightly if a collision is detected and that's supposed to reduce impact on a pedestrian. Pedestrian safety is all important these days.

Pedo's shouldn't be on the road then! :)

That's the only thing that annoys me on my 4GC the lack of rear wiper! Beautiful car for all the miles I do up and down the country which is the job it needs to do. The Z3 is for fun :)

And on the GC too? Hadn't thought about that. Even after 2 years with mine it's a difficult experience reversing such a big car in the rain and becomes positively terrifying if it's dark too! Strange omission.

Apparently they can't get them to sit right because of the airflow.... It's very annoying! I've got a GTechniq coating on mine which beads the glass quite nicely which helps in general but reversing off my driveway which is on a slope, at an angle to the higher road and on a corner when it's raining hard is nigh on impossible to do safely.
