The Range Rover TACR2A Carmichael 6x4, now that's cool (or was in the late 70's to the early 90's)

Saw an Ambulance version of that at Harmston last Sunday Andy. It turned left across the traffic lights from me. Didn't half have a lean on.

These were a bugger to drive mate! 900 litre prefix foam/water tank, 4.1t. Used to lean like a t**t! The skill was to keep your foot on the throttle when hard cornering less you lose traction and role it, a few did. RIP :( Brakes were a shocker, had an Alfa Sud cut across me on the Autobhan when towing a 2t trailer, oops! A chip on my crash bar paintwork and a much shorter Sud :D

We followed a short wheelbase tanker into Gainsborough on Tuesday and eldest Grandson in the back of the oil burner and he was quite taken with the way it kept "Dancing" at traffic lights. Had to explain about the liquid inside a tank thing.=))

I remember seeing pics of these, never seen one in the metal. You only have to look at the proportions though to realise that it must have been a pig to drive....
Yup. Initially had the 3.5 V8 the went on from that, 'quick' off the mark for the weight and had the Speedo on 'smiths' a few times. Very light on the front end :nailbiting: Surprisingly good off road too.

I fitted an MG 1100 motor in Mini many years ago and we didn't swap the Diff. I have no idea what speed it did. Suffice to say the needle went back past the fuel gauge and rested on the "wrong" side of the rest peg at 0. And it went like "s*** off a stick"

Tony.

ps. Oh, and just to get back on topic, it was Surf Blue with a while roof, so it could have been a Cop car:thumbsup:
